Sage (Salvia officinalis), also considered the 'wise herb', is native to the northern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, where it was traditionally used for cooking.

Its leaves can be collected from spring to mid-summer, and its flowers bloom when they are wide open in spring. It is especially known for its high antioxidant capacities and the benefits it brings to health.

Sage has a long history as a medicinal herb. It was used by the ancient Egyptians to increase fertility, and in the first century AD, Dioscorides, a Greek physician, pharmacologist, and botanist (known today as the father of pharmacology), determined that an aqueous decoction of sage could help. to stop bleeding in some wounds and clean sores or ulcers.

Sage juice with warm water was also used to treat coughs and hoarseness. And since then, herbalists have used sage to treat various illnesses, including swelling, sprains, rheumatism, ulcers, and excessive menstrual bleeding.

The herb is also a powerful deodorant that can help neutralize body or food preparation odors.

In the Mamita Purifying Elixir Tonic we use sage for its great anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, disinfectant and healing benefits.

Try it and also benefit from the properties of this ancient plant that, together with other main ingredients such as Aloe Vera gel and Apple cider vinegar, will stimulate and fortify your skin, restoring its normal functioning and recovering its vital energy and resistance.
